Providence, Rhode Island is a success story of modern urban development.
It is now a mecca of art and culture on the east coast. Listed in Money
Magazine as “The Best Place to Live and Eat on the East Coast”
two years in a row, Providence is full of restaurants and cuisine ranging
from Indian and Greek to Italian and Chinese. Thayer Street, near the
Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University, two acclaimed institutions
of higher learning, is filled with cafes and restaurants, bookstores,
boutiques, and frequent art festivals. Its thriving downtown nightlife
leaves you with numerous options for nighttime activities such as viewing
a movie at the local IMAX theater, dancing at any number of nightclubs
with casual to formal settings, watching its monthly summer WaterFire
celebration, with a fire-sculpture installation and local crafts, artwork,
and live music, or just strolling along the River Walk or riding on
a gondola enjoying the summer air. Providence also boasts beautiful
colonial-era architecture and its own airport.
The Delano Homestead Bed and Breakfast is located only 30 minutes away
from Providence and is also in an excellent central location to many
of Rhode Island’s and Massachusetts South Coast’s best places
to visit. Planning day trips to Cape Cod, the Islands, or Boston is
easily possible from beautiful Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Why not enjoy
the tours of historic mansions, galleries, and restaurants of Newport
one day? All of these enjoyable places are less than an hour away and
easily accessible via scenic drives or highways.
